EPHESIANS 3:20

"Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us"

Have you ever been blown away by God’s work? The blessings He provides. My life has taught me to never be surprised at the goodness of God but to be grateful. He never ceases to amaze me. Shortly after starting at Butler university, I received a text message. Remember how I passively applied for new career opportunities because I was trusting God’s plan for me? 


Well, I will never forget this day. On the day of the 2021 NBA draft I received a text message from the head athletic trainer of the Milwaukee Bucks. He asked me if I had time to speak to him that night. In all honesty I forgot I submitted my resume for that job. Months had gone by, and I had not heard anything. I immediately told him yes, I was able to speak to him that night. The draft starts and goes on and on, the first round is almost over, and I am starting to fall asleep. I start to wonder am I getting this phone call? A few more minutes go by, and the Milwaukee area code pops up. I answer and we get to chatting. Fast forward a few days and I am on a zoom call with a few staff members. In the past this is where I tend to get excited. I get my hopes up thinking I am finally going to make it into the NBA. 


A couple days go by, and I get invited to come to the NBA summer league in Vegas for a week to meet the staff and interact with the organization for an informal interview. At this point I am thinking God is not going to bring me this far for my dream not to come to pass. I had just started at Butler, so I had to ask my boss for a week off to go to summer league after just starting. I was blessed to work with an understanding and compassionate boss that he knew my dreams and allowed me to pursue them.


My first year in the organization is going great. The first time in my career where I am the only athletic trainer around to provide care. I had full autonomy and I enjoyed it. As the only athletic trainer on staff with a covid stricken season, there were many times where I thought this was too much to handle. But my faith told me that God will give His most difficult battles to His strongest shoulders. That He will never give me more than I can bare. I finished up my first G-League season and as I am getting ready to prepare for the NBA draft with preseason workouts, an NBA team inquires about me for an assistant position and requests permission to speak with me. My initial reaction was nothing short of pure joy and excitement. Like I just finished my first season, and I am already getting opportunities to work in my ultimate dream setting full time.
